HugenPoet
  • I had an interesting dinner when was in Dusseldorf. I had my dinner in a 17th century castle called HugenPoet, which is an achitectural jewel of the Ruhr valley.
  • In German, Hugen means toad and Poet means Puddle. So basicallly its a toad-puddle. The castle is located 20 minutes away from Dusseldorf city.
  • Everywhere you see small toads: On the collar of the hotel owner, on the tiepin of the barkeeper or the menu of the restaurant.

hugenpoet restaurant

  • The restaurant in Hugepoet is called NERO. The interior of the restaurant NERO is classically elegant, in the summer you dine on the restaurant terrace with view over the castle park.
  • The name of the restaurant is not only a tribute to the first owners of the castle, the barons von Nesselrode Hugenpoet, but also to a distant relative of the family, the Vicomte de Nesselrode.
  • Besides restaurant, Hugepoet also acts as a luxury hotels with beautifully decorated rooms. Each room is decorated differently from one another. In my point of view, it’s a good place for your honeymoon or lovers alike.

  • The cars parked outside and inside of the castle are cars that I love to have like Astom Martin and Maserati to name a few. Some classical cars as well. Should you need a transport, I believe they will be able to pick you up at Dusseldorf International airport with their Porsche Cayenne S. That’s what I call style and luxury.
