Blackberry Bold is out! and I want one!
Reading the specs of the newly launched Blackberry Bold (also known as Blackberry 9000) makes me jump - *ribbit* *ribbit*
Currently, I am using Blackberry 8707g. This model lacks functionality as compared to my previous P990i. It’s only good for receiving and sending emails. Other than that it’s crap.
Nonetheless, the new Blackberry Bold might be just the right machine for me. Based on the specs is the slickest, speediest, most powerful and most connected BlackBerry to date, and I love it.
On connectivity, it provides tri-band HSDPA and quad-band EDGE. This basically means it supports the
highest-speed GSM-family data networks worldwide. The Bold also has 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, stereo Bluetooth and GPS.
On display, it looks a bit like iPhone with glassy look with rounded corners, complete with QWERTY keyboards and maintain the same characteristic as its predecessors. You will also be able to personalize the removable back by buying replacement back in different colors. This is not important to me but it doesn’t hurt to have it there right.
Bold also carries a 2-megapixel camera capable of up to 5X digital zoom. At least you can take some photos as compared to its predecessors. Currently, you can only get photos via email or OTA transfers which sucks for me. The Bold is equipped with 624-MHz StrongARM processor with full multimedia
extensions. This is the most powerful CPU on a handheld to date. The
extra power will be able to handle full-motion video on
its 480-by-320-pixel.
Here are the other spec that I like:
- GPS is enhanced and assisted, and the handset has better map rendering, says Laptop
- Runs on BlackBerry OS 4.6
-
Keyboard has 8800-style “sculpted keys
-
4.5″ tall x 2.6″ wide x 0.5″ deep, weighing 4.7oz
-
Side-loading MicroSD/SDHC slot for up to 16GB additional
- MP3, WMA, AAC, DivX4 and WMV3 codec support
- 128MB of flash plus 1GB of onboard memory (with encryption)
With all of these functions, I am wondering what’s the price tag in Malaysia, if its made available.
