KLians are crazy when it comes to the word SALE. Yes, especially when it’s a Member Card Sale.
Member Card Sale simply means if you are not a member of the shopping complex/ center, you are not allowed to go in unless you register as a member. And this thing happen once in a year. It happens for places like Jusco, Sogo, etc. Interestingly some people utilise their annual leave just to go to this kind of sale. Why? Most probably it’s usually done during weekdays instead of weekends.
Last Friday was Sogo’s Member Card Sale. They start opening the shop at 0800 am but mind you the crowd is and always will be there, 30mins before the opening hours.

The shoppers at the home section
I went to Sogo that evening to buy my baby stuffs. The crowd was crazy. You apparently need to squeeze here and there to get the stuff you need. I do have to say that KLians really loves shopping. Sometimes I wonder where do they get so much money. There are bunches of people who had like 6-7 trolleys of shopping bags. That is like filling-up the entire kancil with shopping bags. You can’t blame them for doing so I guess especially when the discount is to good to resist.

Some shoppers queuing for cash vouchers
What makes these people want to shop more?
- Well, one apparent reason is its cheap and I do have to say that some offers are quite hard to resist. How can you resist when the offer is between 50%-70% off.
- Besides that the shoppers also will get the so called cash vouchers. For every RM100 that you spend you will get RM10 voucher. The way I look at it, it’s a good tactic that have been used by the shopping center to get repetitive customers. Where else can you use the cash vouchers anyway?
- Shoppers also get the accumulate the points. It’s a double dip for them. The cash voucher and points. Why not right? The points will also be calculated for another cash vouchers which they will issue every quarter.
- Free parking (depending on their purchase amount) for those who manage to get the parking slot la
All I can say is, these shoppers are the economic movers and shakers of the country. What do you think?
