For the past 2-days I have been busy re-constructing and playing with the new Joomla 1.5.x for one of the website that I am maintaining.
It seems like the new Joomla 1.5 is much more better than the old one in terms of its usability, looks and functions.
The new joomla is much more flexible as compared to the old version. However, not all of the extensions are easy to install as you will need to actually migrate some of the old files than make some modification to it before you can actually it.
Did some of the conversion but it’s not easy - so decided to use other compatible extensions, lessen my burden.
The ironic thing is I lost most of the users database. Opps! looks like they will need to re-register. Anyway, the old joomla screw up most of the password system. In another view point, it would be better to actually re-register right!
The bad thing about this new Joomla is that it doesn’t have the administrator activation function. The activation can only be done via email by the registrar which I don’t like. Anyone out there knows how to make changes to the current approval/ activation method. Any suggestions are most welcomed.
Am still learning the new Joomla and testing some of the extensions especially the back-up part - just in case.
Oh yes, the theme for Joomla 1.5 is much more nicer as compared to the old one. Therefore, here’s a glimpse of the new re-vamped site.
will write more of this after testing the other functions. So far so good for me.
